Here's were the bad boys (and girls?) and the not-quite-so glorious incidents will be listed!
The FIA: There are plenty of reasons why the FIA would deserve the dubious honour of being the first occupant of the FLOP SPOT, but why not just stick to the present...
The FIA, in their neverending efforts to protect the sport (of course), installed a rule which prohibits teams (meaning BAR) from running their cars in two different liveries.
Now i know that not everything's black and white: there was a decision by the teams under the Concord agreement first (which was only in the best interest of the sport as well, of course and had absolutely nothing to do with wanting to wind up that annoying new BAR team...) and according to Craig Pollock, Mr FIA aka Bernie Ecclestone himself had supported BAR in this case, and last but not least, it was a (supposedly) independent board of arbitrators which finally dismissed BAR's plans BUT the FIA is F1's governing body, meaning they make the rules (and pretty arbitrary little rules they are at times), they made the "the cars must have substantially the same livery" rule...and well, they are simply too easy to dislike!
I don't see why a team running their cars in two different liveries would cause the sport, other teams or the FIA any kind of harm, so my only conclusion is: it was just a petty little demonstration of power by the established teams/FIA to put BAR in their place.
Latest reports claim that BAR will have to appear before the World Motor Sport Council in
Geneva on March 12th to be questioned because they might have "brought the sport into disrepute".... now that'll show 'em, for sure...I'm afraid it's thumbs down all the way for the FIA!
