I may never get my lazy bum up and actually write anything, but watch this space anyway...otherwise you might miss something...and then don't come whining to me...because i told you so!

The Melbourne GP (05. - 07.03.99)

What can i say...? It was like last season had never ended: the Mc Laren still way ahead of everybody else, though far from being reliable...MS in "Suzuka II - He's back at the back of the grid" and...

Well alright, there *were* some changes:

- BAR: the new "bad boys" on the grid living up dutifully to their image by JV losing his rear wing and being "to blame" for the first safety car phase and by RZ going "Wow, look at all those nice people waving blue 555 flags at me! I never knew i had so many fans here!"
Otherwise a pretty disappointing debut, though you could see that the car has potential - but even if they manage to improve reliability, the lack of engine power will remain a huge handicap.

- HHF: first race for Jordan, first podium, being able to dominate his teammate all weekend long - need i say more?!

- RS: same as above, managing a third place with the Supertec engine, whereas his teammate AZ looked like he was trying to do a donut in mid-race - i think it's not hard to guess what will have pleased Sir Frank more...

The Stewarts: lots of bad luck (especially for poor JH), but it makes Rubens' performance all the more impressive! I guess we can expect some more surprises from that team later this season!

PdlR: first F1 race, managing to get a point in an 98 Arrows - not bad, eh?!

Oddest event of the race weekend:

MH bringing down the ceiling in the Mc Laren garage...and the sight of the entire Mc Laren team afterwards, standing there with raised arms, holding the ceiling, looking like taking part in some bizzare ritual...

Quote of the race weekend:

MS after "the wrong Ferrari" had won: "It was a pretty bad weekend for us. Lots of problems with the car - fortunately it was only one of our cars, unfortunately it was my car!"
